How Long You Suffer with a DUI Conviction

I went to the best DUI attorney in Huntsville not soon after my little mishap at a sporting event. Let me tell you… I needed to take care of this promptly. No room for procrastination. He told me some scary stuff!

I found out what could’ve happened if I refused the various drunken tests. Had I refused the first time? My license could have been suspended for 90 days. Oh, it gets better. If I would’ve said “No” the second time I would’ve been without a license for a year. A third time? Three years!

My DUI lawyer spoke to me about the consequences of being convicted of drunk driving. This is scarier than the suspensions of a license. Since it would be my first conviction, the luxury of driving would be revoked for a year. The second and third ones? Three years and five years respectively. How is THAT for scariness?

Do not even make me go there about going to jail. Or, losing my job, or something worse like increased or termination of, insurance. I need to work, if I’m going to pay my bills. It would be the end of the world for me. I’ve got to be able to get around. I’ll go stir-crazy. Continue reading

Too Busy

I’ve been really busy lately so I asked my friend Mary to write an entry for the blog based on some past experience with DUI.

What is Uninsured Motorist Coverage?

Not exactly a Huntsville law office but close, this Tuscumbia law firm handles insurance and, estate, injury, and auto accident cases. Drawing from their expertise on the subject, we put together a quick summary of liability coverage and uninsured motorist coverage.

An auto accident victim often suffers both physical and emotional injuries as a result of the car wreck. The purpose of mandatory liability coverage laws is to ensure that victims are compensated for those injuries; however, thousands of people continue to operate on the roads each year without any liability coverage, or with inadequate liability coverage. Uninsured motorist coverage and underinsured motorist coverage are intended to protect victims in the event they are injured by a motorist who was driving without sufficient liability coverage. A Few Ways to Avoid DUI Convictions

Some of these are obvious and some are not.If you find yourself in trouble with the law and need a Huntsville DUI Lawyer, I’d recommend Price and Flowers.

  • Just don’t drive or get behind the wheel of a vehicle. In Alabama if you are in the front seat of a car that is turned off, you can get a DUI.
  • Towed cars are a problem too.  If you are sitting behind the wheel and are intoxicated, you can get a DUI.
  • Breath machines are subject to error when you have been around lacquer, paint, gasoline, dry cleaning fluids, or other volatile fumes. Get a second independent test.
  • If the personnel drawing blood for a blood test does not follow the required rules and regulations, the test results can be totally excluded as evidence. Continue reading

Finding Huntsville Alabama Lawyers

I’ve decided to start looking at this blog as a way to help others hire Huntsville Alabama lawyers. I’m concentrating in this area as this is where my legal issues take place and I’m hoping to learn a few things along the way that will help people in the same boat. Finding a Huntsville Alabama lawyer is not exactly hard or easy. I was surprised to find there are 750+ attorneys in this area. Wow, that’s like an attorney for every 400 people. There are many Huntsville Alabama lawyers that have a ton of experience and a bunch that have next to none.

How do you find out more about attorneys in your area? Word of mouth and the internet.  For instance, if you are looking for a personal injury attorney; you can search for “personal injury attorney Huntsville Alabama” and you’ll see a bunch of listings.  Remember to do your homework to narrow the field. If you have a legit case, you want legit help.

The three resources I used most were people, Google Places, and AVVO. My initial search was just looking for someone that handled injury cases. After finding several I looked at the Google Places listing to see where they were on the map. Closer to me seemed better to me. After that I research them on AVVO. After looking for high rated lawyers on AVVO I started asking co-workers and friends their opinions. You find out a lot about professionals in a small town by just asking. Be careful though, I found some people held grudges against their attorney because they didn’t get them far in a non-winnable case. Be fair.

Why Personal Injury Cases Don’t Always Settle

There are occasions why a personal injury claim isn’t enough for the injured party. One of the most common reasons why this takes place is because people are misinformed about the amount of money that they should expect in a personal injury claim. The fact is that an injured party can expect to be compensated a fair amount of money for their injuries. Compensation will be based upon the severity of the injuries that have occurred. Compensation will also be based upon other factors, such as medical and physician bills, and time off from work

However, when people think of personal claims, they think that they will be awarded large sums of money for a couple of reasons. One of the reasons is because they have heard from friends and family members stories or rumors about how much money was awarded to them. It’s easy for someone who has never been awarded a personal injury claim to believe that they will come into very large sums of money if someone else says that they have done the same.

Another reason why injured parties believe that they will win very large sums of money for their claim is because an unscrupulous attorney will either advertise getting large awards for their clients, or the attorney will make unwarranted promises. It’s a shame in both cases when the injured party gets false information regarding the amount of money that they can expect. However, many people continue to be misinformed. When this takes place, they will refuse an out of court settlement.

What to Say?

I’ve decided to blog. Yes, now is the time. I’ve been dealing with some legal issues and I feel like for once I have something to say to the world. We’ll see as the weeks go by,
